Course Description
Everything around us is a result of associations between social actors, such as - animals, plants, bots, and drones. The social actors and their associations can be visualized as 'social networks'. Researchers investigate social networks to understand the nature of these associations -- to understand how it is shaping our present, to reveal how it determined our past, and to predict how it will influence our future. In this research-oriented course, we will discuss the tools and techniques that researchers have developed to help them analyze social networks. At the same time, we will discuss their findings about friendships, epidemics, economics, social media, politics, and everything else. Finally, we will delve into philosophy, questioning the very definition of a society. Postgraduates and senior undergraduates are the target audience of this course.
